BRAND FOCUS: JOURNAL

What are you working on right now?
Right now I am busy finishing up the Autumn 2014 collection. The
inspiration is found in a piece of voluminous German architechture which
plays with graphic lines and futuristic elements. It has these
reflecting surfaces which mirrors the surroundings, so it's
full of contrasts and interesting perspectives, just the way I like it.

Specific dream client?
I think David Bowie still has this thing about him, he's experienced but at the same time experimental.
Characteristics I hope to reflect through my design.

Biggest designer misconception?
I really enjoy simplicity and good craftsmanship in a design but at the
same time I am a sucker for dramatic details. Biggest
misconception I think, is worn out phrase 'less is more'. Often
it's just an attempt to justify an incomplete design.

If you weren’t a designer, what would you do?
I think I would take up studying some of my other interests. Maybe finish my experience economy
grad or take up Architechture or Art studies.
When I was younger I wanted to be an actress but I always knew I had to do something
which revolves around art, design or illustration.

How would your friends describe you in 5 words?
creative, happy, empathic, crazy and ambitious.

Current guilty pleasures?
There's so many! Reading online news way too often and drinking coffee whenever I need a
break. Often followed up by a pain au chocolat.

Song currently on repeat?
Jubilee Street, the live version, by Nick Cave

Last buy?
A raspberry color sweater with cut-out details from Carven.

Secret talents?
I've done like a million crosswords since I was a kid so this is my thing.

Plans for Journal in 2014?
As we are attending fairs in L.A., N.Y. and Berlin we expect to see an
increased international interest. Designwise we aim to follow our
original conceptual ideas and to do the things we feel is right. And we
still want to deliver products which can exceed the expectations of the
people who took a chance on us and trusted us from the beginning.
The design will continue to surprise and to some extent push the boundries
for aesthetics.

How are you spending this saturday?
Getting up at 7AM with junior. A bit of play and dance, going to the fleamarket, swimming with the family, music and wine with my love.
