"Henrik Vibskovs‘s
showman’s flair and penchant for avant-garde oddity was again on
display for Fall/Winter 2013. “The Stiff Neck Chamber” was the name
given to his Paris presentation – a merging of visual, audio and tactile
elements that will have a thematic sibling in “Neck Plus Ultra,” his
upcoming solo art exhibition. Hewing closely to its title, the
collection was kicked off with a multitude of upside-down black flamingo
necks that lined center stage, creating the conceptual “stiff neck
chamber” promised to attendees. The first two looks, however, referenced
a very different sort of chamber — a duo of models in gas masks set the
mood for Vibskov’s procession of both men’s and women’s garments, each
outfit topped off by headwear supported from the backs of models’ necks.
South of the collar, the garments were vintage Vibskov — marled
leggings, color-blocked, paneled knits and relaxed silhouettes featured
throughout, while dotted patterns and flamingo prints were all-new for
the season."
